Orsk miner fined 1.9 million rubles
A resident of Orsk was found guilty of illicit electricity consumption for cryptocurrency mining. The press service of the Orenburg Regional Court said.
According to case materials, the miner connected to the electrical grids of a truck’s semi-trailer without an energy-supply contract. The theft was recorded by employees of PJSC Rosseti Volga.
The Sovetsky District Court of Orsk found that the defendant did not pay for the electricity consumed and ruled in favour of the energy company.
The Orenburg Regional Court rejected the appeal and imposed a fine of 1.9 million rubles on the miner.
Earlier, the Rosseti North Caucasus branch identified four new cases of electricity theft to power mining farms in Dagestan, North Ossetia-Alania and Ingushetia for a total of 27 million rubles.
