The Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) организовала a training for Uzbek law enforcement authorities on investigating crimes related to digital assets.
Among the course attendees are representatives of the General Prosecutor’s Office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the State Security Service of the country. As part of the initiative the OSCE’s Department for Transnational Threats will explain the core concepts and key trends in anonymity and encryption, the features of cryptocurrencies and the dark net.
The training is based on materials developed by the European Group on Education in the Fight Against Cybercrime. Training activities will run in 2022 and 2023.
“Digital technologies are transforming the criminal environment, and training law enforcement authorities in this area requires a long-term and systemic approach,” said Yevgeny Kolenko, head of the Prosecutor General’s Academy of the republic.
In 2021, Uzbek authorities urged residents of the country not to use “unofficial” platforms for trading and exchanging cryptocurrencies.
In the summer of 2022, authorities restricted access for citizens to unlicensed trading platforms and exchange services for digital assets.
From 1 January 2023, individuals and legal entities will be able to carry out crypto buying, selling or exchange transactions exclusively through service providers.
