Over 30 validators added to the Free TON mainnet

The first batch of new validators has been added to the Free TON mainnet, based on the Telegram Open Network protocol. This occurred during a live stream.

According to TON Labs’ chief technology officer Dmitry Goroshyevsky, validators were selected based on the results of The Crystal Game contest.

“No connection difficulties arose. All validators are technically well prepared,” he said in ForkLog’s commentary.

TON Labs co-founder Alexander Filatov added that the Free TON network has entered the final phase of decentralisation.

There are currently more than 30 independent validators involved in the network’s governance, with up to 400 contest winners set to join the network subsequently.

Since 16 November, Cyril Paglino has served as CEO of TON Labs.

The venture firm Starchain Capital, which he founded in 2017, has invested in more than 20 companies, including Coinbase, MakerDAO, Polkadot, Orchid. Cyril Paglino is also the founder of The Garage, a European blockchain accelerator.

The Crystal Game contest, in which validators battled for the title Master of the Game, ran from June 17. The prize fund amounted to over 250 million TON Crystals — more than 5% of the total emission in the Free TON network.
