Pavilions premium hotel chain adds cryptocurrency payment option
The Pavilions Hotels & Resorts premium boutique chain has added the option to pay for room bookings with Bitcoin, Ethereum and 40 other cryptocurrencies.
The initiative was implemented in partnership with the payments service Coindirect.
It is expected that in the future the option will be integrated into booking aggregators. At present, payment is available on the network’s sites.
“The expansion of payment methods, combined with security and calm for our guests, will enhance the personalization of the services provided.”, said founder and owner of Pavilions Gordon Oldham.
The network comprises 14 properties across Europe and Asia, including Rome, Amsterdam, Madrid, Lisbon and Bali.
Back in July 2020, travel operator Expedia and the blockchain booking service Travala introduced the option to pay for rooms at 700,000 hotels in Bitcoin.
In March 2021, Latvian carrier airBaltic added the option to purchase tickets with Ethereum, Dogecoin, Bitcoin Cash, USD Coin, Binance Dollar, Gemini Dollar and Paxos.
