
PeckShield Reports $142 Million in Crypto Losses from Hacks in July
In July, the cryptocurrency industry suffered losses amounting to $142 million due to 17 hacking incidents. This marks a 27% increase from June, when losses were reported at $111 million, according to PeckShield.

Top Hacks
The largest incident last month was the hack of the Indian exchange CoinDCX, which lost $44 million. Cyvers CEO Deddy Lavida believes the attack was orchestrated by the North Korean group Lazarus Group.
The trading platform has promised to fully compensate the losses from its financial reserves.
According to the investigation, hackers gained access to the company’s wallets through an employee’s laptop. The employee has been arrested by Indian police, who continue to investigate the incident.
The second-largest loss was from the hack of GMX. On July 9, the decentralized crypto exchange lost $42 million. However, two days later, the perpetrator returned nearly all the stolen assets.
On July 16, the trading platform BigONE was compromised. Hackers infiltrated the product network and altered the server logic responsible for account management and risk control. The platform has pledged to cover all losses from its own funds.
In July, WOO X and Future Protocol also suffered losses of $12 million and $4.2 million, respectively.
Earlier in 2025, losses from hacks and fraud in Web3 projects amounted to $3.1 billion in the first six months. This figure has already surpassed the total for 2024, which was $2.85 billion.
