PepsiCo unveils its first NFT collection

American company PepsiCo has announced the NFT-collection Pepsi Mic Drop on the Ethereum blockchain. Tokens will go to waitlist members, with the waitlist registration opening on December 10 at 20:00 MSK.

The collection comprises 1,893 tokens — in honour of the year the company was founded.

According to the press release, the NFTs are generated randomly: each depicts a variation of a microphone image inspired by Pepsi’s ‘signature flavors’. They are also divided into rarity tiers — the most unique will be issued in a single edition.

Waitlist members will receive the collectible items on December 14. To obtain the NFT, they will need to pay a gas fee on the Ethereum network. At the time of writing, the average gas fee stands at about $4.84 per transaction, according to Etherscan.

In July, Pepsi’s rival Coca-Cola entered into a partnership with the Tafi platform to release an NFT collection in honour of International Day of Friendship.

Earlier on December 7, the video-game developer and publisher Ubisoft unveiled a platform for trading in-game items in NFT format.

Earlier Adidas announced a collaboration with Bored Ape Yacht Club, GMoney and PunksComic.
