Perplexity has launched a local AI agent, Personal Computer, which operates 24/7 and retains “memory” between sessions, similar to OpenClaw.
The “general-purpose digital employee” works with the same interfaces as the user. The tool creates and executes workflows and can operate for hours.
The initial version of the product, Perplexity Computer, was released in February 2026, and on March 11, the company unveiled an updated version of the AI assistant.
The company positions the service as a separate computer, as it offers “high-precision AI search, an orchestration system of 20 advanced models, and agent access to the internet.”
“Personal Computer runs on a dedicated Mac mini, capable of functioning around the clock, connected to your local applications and Perplexity’s secure servers,” the startup’s blog states.
The company describes the solution as a “digital representative of the user,” allowing remote management of work tools and files from any device.
Personal Computer operates in a secure environment with protective mechanisms. Critical operations require manual confirmation, and an emergency shutdown mechanism is in place in case of failures.
Computer for Enterprises
Perplexity conducted a study based on metrics from McKinsey, Harvard, MIT, and BCG. The study revealed that Perplexity Computer:
- saved internal teams $1.6 million;
- managed to handle a workload of 3.25 years in just four weeks.
The company also offered the Computer for Enterprise service. It easily integrates into corporate infrastructure and supports work with hundreds of popular platforms, including Snowflake, Salesforce, and HubSpot.
Clients can customize the neural network for their own business processes. For instance, employees have the opportunity to interact with the LLM in Slack via personal messages or a shared channel for coding, creating dashboards, presentations, building financial models, and performing other tasks. Asynchronous workflow initiation is also available.
Ecosystem Update
Perplexity announced updates to its other products:
- Comet has been adapted for corporate environments—administrators can decide where and how the assistant operates, set permissions for the entire browser or individual domains, and approve more active work;
- the Perplexity platform is expanding with four APIs: Search, Agent, Embeddings, Sandbox;
- Computer has gained the ability to use data from Statista, CB Insights, PitchBook;
- Perplexity Finance has been updated—a data and analytics layer for Computer, Deep Research, and Search, as well as a separate panel for tracking markets and news in real-time. The service now has access to over 40 real-time financial instruments.
The entire Perplexity ecosystem is unified under the single brand—Computer. The initiative aims to integrate artificial intelligence at all levels of work—from personal tasks to corporate software and financial analytics.
Back in February, Samsung added Perplexity as a second system AI agent in the new S26 smartphones.
