Peter Aven Explains Why He Does Not Believe in Cryptocurrencies.

Peter Aven, the chairman of Alfa-Bank’s board, said he does not believe in cryptocurrencies, and he described the tightening of legislation in this area as ‘completely natural’.

“No government — as I was taught, at least in university — will allow a parallel currency. It undermines the main currency, so today I still do not believe in cryptocurrency as a means of payment in real life or as a store of value,” Aven said in an interview with РБК.

He also said that the introduction of a digital ruble will pose a challenge for many banks. According to Aven, it is not yet clear how its issuance will affect \”including funding\”.

\n

\”But avoiding this is impossible, and it requires reflection,\” he added.

\n

Earlier, Aven said that he had never invested in digital currencies and did not believe in their future.
