Pieter Wuille relinquishes key role in Bitcoin Core
One of Bitcoin Core’s principal developers, Pieter Wuille, requested exclusion of direct access to the code of the first cryptocurrency.
To be clear: I won’t stop contributing to code, review, and all the projects I’m involved in. It just so happens I’m not doing much maintenance anymore, so it’s time to drop my permissions. https://t.co/8OAJaw02MM

The specialist explained that he would not abandon work on the code, feedback, and participation in projects in which he is involved. His access will be removed from the list of trusted contributors who can make edits to Bitcoin Core.
The roster of key Bitcoin developers will continue to be represented by Vladimir van der Laan, Marco Falke, Michael Ford, and Gennady Stepanov.
Wuille had been working to improve Bitcoin Core since May 2011 and, in that time, contributed thousands of commits.
Among the notable changes:
- BIP32 — the addition of seed phrases;
- SegWit (BIPs 49) — a more efficient way of storing data in blocks;
- Taproot (BIPs 340, 341 and 342) — enhances privacy, efficiency and scalability of the network.
In late June, Lightning Labs developers выпустили a beta version of the LND client for Lightning Network with support for some of the latest Bitcoin protocol improvements, including Taproot.
Earlier, the startup team представила the Taro protocol for launching stablecoins on the Lightning Network.
