Polygon launches public zkEVM scaling testnet

The Polygon project launched a public testnet for scaling Ethereum called zkEVM.

According to developers, the new solution employs the first ever fully functional open-source proving system.

Among the first to join the testnet are:

New solution scales Ethereum and reduces transaction costs without compromising security and EVM-equivalence.

«The July zkEVM announcement became a turning point for Polygon, and also an important milestone for Ethereum and the entire industry. We proposed scaling Ether using efficient zero-knowledge proofs (ZK) in an environment of EVM-equivalence», the project blog states.

The full-scale launch of the new solution is scheduled for early 2023.

In October, Matter Labs announced the launch of a public testnet for Pathfinder, an L3 solution.
