Polygon updates zkEVM testnet ahead of mainnet launch

The Polygon project unveiled the final pre-mainnet version of its test network for scaling Ethereum called zkEVM.

The team launched a public testnet for Polygon zkEVM in October 2022.

According to the statement, with the latest code updates, most of the expected features of the solution have been implemented in its second test iteration.

The capabilities of the latest version are fully equivalent to the forthcoming mainnet, aside from potential fixes based on the audit results. Earlier, the team commissioned two external firms to analyse 37 components of zkEVM. The timelines for completion are unknown.

The key improvements in the final testnet were:

The team recommended users migrate to the new testnet version, since the old one will be deprecated on 5 January 2023.

As of Dec. 20, the network had 2,264 smart contracts deployed, 10,508 wallets registered, 21,966 transactions executed, and 14,930 ZK proofs created.
