PortAventura to begin accepting Bitcoin payments

The Spanish PortAventura will be the first amusement park to integrate the option to pay with the first cryptocurrency. The changes will take effect with the new season in 2022.

According to the press release, in the first stage payment in Bitcoin will be available to guests of six hotels with 2,300 rooms.

The initiative was developed as part of the company’s strategic project to implement innovations.

“In PortAventura World we are deeply immersed in the process of digitalisation to improve the experience of our guests and promote new forms of entertainment,” said Managing Director David Garcia Blancas.

In July 2021, the luxury boutique hotel network Pavilions Hotels & Resorts added the ability to pay for room bookings in Bitcoin, Ethereum and 40 other cryptocurrencies.

In March, the Latvian airline airBaltic integrated ticket purchases in Ethereum, Dogecoin, Bitcoin Cash, USD Coin, Binance Dollar, Gemini Dollar and Paxos.
