The Portuguese electricity provider Luzboa plans to add bitcoin payment support for 5,000 customers. Local publication Expresso reports this.
The president of the company, Pedro Morais Leitão, said that he knows about the volatility of digital assets, but is willing to take some risks in order to use the new payment method.
“The new generation is interested in cryptocurrencies. We are ready to give them the opportunity to pay in this way,” said the head of Luzboa.
To avoid risks stemming from volatility, the company plans to convert bitcoins into euros immediately upon receipt.
As a reminder, Tesla intends to integrate the first cryptocurrency as a means of payment.
Earlier, the American chain Pizza Hut began accepting bitcoins and other digital currencies at its outlets in Venezuela.
PayPal chief Dan Schulman said that using digital gold as a means of payment will enhance its functionality.
