PoW fork developers patch vulnerability in code removing {{AOPEN_1}}EIP-1559{{ACLOSE_1}}

Developers behind the potential Ethereum PoW (ETHW) fork published code that would remove EIP-1559 and distribute coins to miners. The community found a serious flaw in it.

«People discovered a bug that would roll back all blocks to the state preceding the London hard fork. In the morning the team released a patch for this vulnerability,» wrote journalist Colin Wu.

Twitter user zhijie explained that the bug would not allow blocks produced after the above-mentioned hard fork to be added to the chain.

В конце июля влиятельный китайский майнер Чандлер Гуо непосредственно высказал идею форка с появлением ответвления Ethereum, которое продолжит работать на алгоритме Proof-of-Work. Появившийся в итоге актив ETHW позволит добытчикам второй по капитализации криптовалюты продолжить работу после слияния.

Ранее сторонники PoW-форка Ethereum назвали его «неизбежным». Однако эксперты CoinShares назвав ее «нежизнеспособной».
