In Odintsovo, near Moscow, employees of a management company installed ASIC miners in an apartment building and mined cryptocurrencies at residents’ expense. The residents of the Trekhgorka district сообщили this on social media.
From December 1, the residential complex \”Novaya Trekhgorka\” terminated the management agreement with the company \”Alternative Profi\” in favour of the management company \”Service Dom\”. A few days later, representatives of the new company found in the building’s basement a soundproofed room in which three working ASIC miners Canaan AvalonMiner 1066 were located.
The devices were connected directly to the building’s electrical panel. The owner of the farm, according to residents, was one of the employees of the management company \”Alternative Profi\”.
Residents filed a complaint with the prosecutor’s office; the equipment was seized.
Subsequently, it emerged that in the basement of at least one more building in Odintsovo, serviced by the management company \”Alternative Profi\”, there was mining equipment, but it was turned off and hidden in a plywood box.
Earlier, the Smolensk Oblast prosecutor’s office identified a crypto mining farm on the grounds of the local State University of Sport. The preliminary amount of damage exceeded 5 million rubles.
