Putin orders the Prosecutor-General’s Office to curb illicit cross-border transfers of digital financial assets

President Vladimir Putin has ordered additional measures to curb illegal cross-border transfers of digital financial assets. He said at the meeting of the collegium of the Prosecutor-General’s Office.

“Criminal elements are increasingly using these digital financial assets, and this, without a doubt, must receive the closest attention in collaboration with colleagues from other agencies, including the Financial Monitoring Service,” he said.

Earlier, Rosfinmonitoring in February reported to Putin on the creation of service for tracking cryptocurrency transactions.

Also in the State Duma, they urged paying particular attention to regulating virtual assets and to the fight against information threats, because criminals are allegedly increasingly using cryptocurrencies and the dark net.
