Quentin Tarantino sells the first NFT from his collection for $1.1 million

The film director Quentin Tarantino sold the non-fungible token (NFT) ‘Royale with Cheese’ based on the 1994 film ‘Pulp Fiction’ for $1.1 million. ForkLog was told by the organizers of the Secret Network auction.

The buyer was the decentralized autonomous organization AnonDAO. It won the auction among 200 bids.

Tarantino’s full NFT collection comprises seven tokens featuring chapters from the director’s original handwritten screenplay and his exclusive audio commentaries.

The auction unfolds in seven stages:

  1. 17–21 January — Royale with Cheese;
  2. 24 January — Pumpkin and Honey Bunny;
  3. 25 January — Foot Massage;
  4. 26 January — Check Out the Big Brain on Brett;
  5. 27 January — Captain Koons Monologue — The Gold Watch;
  6. 28 January — Bring Out the Gimp;
  7. 31 January — Last Scene: Coffee Shop — Ezekiel 25:17.

In November 2021, Tarantino announced an NFT auction based on ‘Pulp Fiction’.

In response, Miramax filed a lawsuit against the director, alleging unfair competition, breach of contract, and copyright.
