Quora’s knowledge-sharing service launched Poe, enabling people to ask questions, receive answers and engage in a two-way dialogue with AI chatbots. TechCrunch.
As of writing, Poe was available by invitation only on iOS. According to the developers, users on the platform can interact with various AI agents.
The service provides access to several AI models that generate text, including ChatGPT. In the chat interface, Poe offers a number of topics for conversation and use cases, such as “writing assistance”, “cooking”, “problem solving”, and “nature”.
“We think this will be an interesting way for people to interact with and explore different language models. Poe is designed to provide instant answers to any question in a natural conversation,” said a Quora spokesperson.
The company believes that simple and intuitive user interfaces will help unlock the potential of modern AI models:
“We hope that we can provide this interface …, so that everyone can derive as many benefits as possible.”
The company noted that it is not taking steps to counter algorithmic bias. Instead, they rely on chatbot developers who themselves moderate and filter content.
“Model providers have put in considerable effort to prevent bots from generating unsafe answers,” they say.
At present, Quora is focused on scalability, gathering feedback from beta testers, and addressing issues as they arise.
Earlier, in December OpenAI presented the ChatGPT, a chatbot based on a large language model.
Less than a week later, Stack Overflow banned posting answers generated by artificial intelligence.
In the same month, Ethereum Vitalik Buterin tested ChatGPT in the area of coding and said that AI would not replace programmers in the near future.
