Rari Capital to compensate victims of hacker attack

Rari Capital founder Jai Bhavnani [Jai Bhavnani] announced compensation for users affected by the hacker attack on May 8. This is stated in публикации on Medium.

According to Bhavnani, the protocol lost 2,600 ETH (~$10.6 million at current rates). The project will transfer RGT tokens from the developers’ incentive fund to the benefit of the decentralized autonomous organization.

“All protocol participants decided to return these 2 million RGT back to the DAO with a request to use the tokens to reimburse lost funds and reward those who helped,” the statement said.

Given that at the time of writing RGT was trading at about $11.61, this equates to roughly $23.2 million. The token distribution plan remains to be approved.

Bhavnani stressed that Rari did not raise funds from venture investors. The project intends to forgo the team and hand over the protocol’s development to the community.

Earlier in April, the DeFi protocol Force DAO was attacked by hackers just hours after launch.

In February 2021, hackers hacked the DeFi project Furucombo. The damage amounted to about $14 million in Ethereum and ERC-20 tokens.
