Revolut becomes the first Diia City resident.

On February 8, the British fintech startup Revolut became a resident of the special legal regime in Ukraine, Diia City. This was announced by the company’s operations manager Dmitry Strelchuk during the Diia Summit forum.

According to him, during 2022 Revolut would create more than a hundred jobs for technical specialists in Ukraine.

“We want to invest in Ukraine and create jobs here. We want to be the world’s largest IT company that serves users in personal and business finance,” Strelchuk said.

As of now, Revolut’s valuation stands at $33 billion. More than 50 cryptocurrencies are available for purchase in the app.

In August 2021, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed the foundational law creating the Diia City special legal regime.

It provides a special tax regime for IT companies, the introduction of elements of English law to attract investment, and a separate procedure for interaction with state supervisory authorities.

The provisions of the law will remain in effect for 25 years.

In September, informed sources reported plans by Revolut to launch its own token. According to one of them, the company is working on “something like an exchange token similar to Binance Coin.” He compared the coin’s distribution mechanism to the native assets of the processing service Wirex and the cryptocurrency lender Nexo.
