Ripple Labs’ chief developer to depart after a decade on the XRP Ledger project

Nick Bugalis, Ripple Labs’ chief developer, will leave Ripple Labs in a few weeks. In the fintech startup, he has devoted ten years to XRP Ledger open-source projects.

“I must work on a project I enjoy, toward the goal I believe in. […] Leaving was not an easy decision, but it was the right one,” the specialist said.

Bugalis stressed that his future is not tied to a blockchain startup or work on NFTs or DeFi.

The expert said he is confident that Ripple Labs’ success does not depend on a single person, and the startup has assembled a team of talented, passionate people.

As a reminder, in March the company Ripple pledged to allocate 1 billion XRP to the XRP Ledger ecosystem development program. As priorities the firm earmarked sidechains, NFTs, infrastructure and network-security-related projects, and developer tools.

In October the Ripple team began testing EVM-compatible sidechain.

Earlier, departures from their posts were announced by Parity Technologies CEO Gavin Wood, OpenSea chief financial officer Brian Roberts, Kraken head Jess Powell, FTX US CEO Brett Harrison, and Alameda Research co-CEO Sam Trabucco.
