Unknown individuals have hacked the social media accounts of trader Keith Gill, known as Roaring Kitty. The perpetrators posted the contract address of the meme coin RKC, causing a sharp rise in the asset’s price.
Roaring Kitty(@TheRoaringKitty) posted $RKC, then deleted the post, causing $RKC to crash 90%!
But the $RKC dev had already cashed out 6,260 $SOL ($611K).

According to Lookonchain, the coin’s creators were prepared for the dump. They distributed 20 SOL ($1950) across ten wallets and acquired nearly 40% of the RKC supply. Following the posts on Gill’s accounts, the developers sold the tokens for 5071 SOL ($495,000).
Additionally, the creators received 1209 SOL ($118,000) in commission fees. The total profit amounted to approximately $611,000.
Initially, the page published the Solana token address and an image of a cat in a red scarf. Later, a photo of a hand with a red band appeared—a symbol of Gill during the GameStop saga in 2021. Both messages were deleted half an hour after posting.
Following the dump, RKC prices plummeted by 90%. Amid the incident, volatility also affected GameStop shares—they rose by 13% but quickly corrected.

Gill became a key figure in the retail investors’ “war” with hedge funds in 2021. Since then, his posts have caused significant volatility in certain assets.
Back in June 2024, journalists noted signs of market manipulation in Roaring Kitty’s actions.
