Robinhood adds support for Solana and Shiba Inu

The online broker Robinhood added support for four new cryptocurrencies: Solana, Polygon, Compound, and Shiba Inu. The company said this on on its blog.

For now, users can only buy and sell these crypto assets — the ability to top up wallets and withdraw funds will appear later, Robinhood said.

“Over the past year our clients have consistently asked for two things: the ability to receive and send their own coins, and a broader range of cryptocurrencies. In response to the first request, we already activated crypto wallets for everyone who was on the waitlist — that is, more than 2 million people. Now we are pleased to tackle the next item,” the company said.

Steve Quirk, head of Brokerage Services, noted that in selecting coins at Robinhood they were evaluated against a “strict set of rules.” In his words, the platform must remain a safe and educational space.

Back in July 2021, Robinhood co-founder Vlad Tenev named cryptocurrencies the cornerstone of the company’s development.
