Robonomics Network values Polkadot slot at $3 million

The blockchain platform Robonomics Network presented estimates of the rental costs for Polkadot and Kusama slots and announced its intention to rent a Kusama slot for two years. Representatives of the project told ForkLog.

A two-year lease of a slot in Kusama and Polkadot is valued at $480,000 and $3.2 million, respectively. Over two years, KSM and DOT holders would earn around $50 million and $650 million, respectively, given the networks’ current capitalizations.

During the upcoming auction, Robonomics Network plans to distribute $720,000 in the native token XRT among KSM holders. According to the calculations, such an offer would be 1.5 times the staking reward of KSM itself.

One Kusama slot can host up to 10,000 digital twins of IoT devices. During its lease, the team plans to scale the network to one million devices by switching from the Kusama parachain to the Polkadot Relay Chain and storing digital twins in the Robonomics parachain.

“The goal of the infrastructure project is to provide one million IoT devices with a level of security and global accessibility that cloud platforms from IT giants cannot provide,” said the founder of Robonomics Network Sergey Lonshakov.

Users will gain access to data tokenization from IoT devices and smart contracts to automate logistics and the manufacture of smart cities.

The Polkadot slot auction is expected to run in the range from $3.2 million to $6.4 million.

The forecast for the upcoming parachain initial offerings is based on the parameters of already launched Kusama and Polkadot networks, projections by Parity and the Web3 Foundation team, and community expectations considering the current staking metrics for DOT and KSM.

As noted, the Kusama blockchain cross-chain interaction experimental protocol launched in August 2019. It enabled creating and deploying shards in the Polkadot ecosystem, as well as testing other network properties.
