Roskomnadzor blocks six VPN services

Roskomnadzor limited access to VPN services Hola!VPN, ExpressVPN, KeepSolid VPN Unlimited, Nord VPN, Speedify VPN and IPVanish VPN.

According to Roskomnadzor, the use of these services allows users to bypass blocks and ‘leads to maintaining access to prohibited information and resources’.

The agency warned in July about blocking the aforementioned services.

Roskomnadzor also reported the creation of ‘whitelists’ of organisations that use VPN ‘for technological purposes’. The agency has received 27 notices from firms using any of the six blocked services.

Earlier, Roskomnadzor restricted the use of VPN services VyprVPN and Opera VPN since June 17 due to ‘the threat of circumventing access restrictions’ to illicit content.
