Since the start of 2021, Rosseti North Caucasus has identified nine cases of electricity theft for cryptocurrency mining in Dagestan.
The total volume of illegally consumed electricity exceeded 1.4 million kWh. The damage is estimated at more than 4.7 million rubles.
Rosseti identified thefts in Magaramkentsky, Levashinsky, Buynaksky, Karabudakhkentsky and Suleiman-Stalsky districts, as well as in Makhachkala.
Among the largest incidents was the theft of electricity for mining at a livestock farm in the village of Nizhne Kazanishche. The owner illegally consumed electricity worth 2.2 million rubles.
For each identified case, the company filed statements with law enforcement authorities.
Earlier, Rosseti North Caucasus’ losses in 2019-2020 due to illegal mining activity amounted to 230 million rubles.
