Roughly 100 BTC stolen from Blender Wallet
On June 22, Blender Wallet, a non-custodial wallet, was attacked, with attackers allegedly stealing around 100 BTC (about $3.2 million at the time of the incident). According to the project’s site.
Immediately after the breach, the Blender Wallet team disabled login to the app and the creation of new seed phrases.
“Blender Wallet does not store user data on its servers. However seed phrases and passwords are now considered compromised. We urge users not to use addresses generated from these phrases or send anything to them,” they said.
In the communication channels traditionally used by the team, they promised to compensate the stolen funds from Blender’s mixer reserves.
The project’s site has appeared to issue a suspicious request asking users to hand over seed phrases in order to receive compensation, although it is widely known that seed phrases must not be shared with third parties under any circumstances due to risks to funds.
Users complain about limited ability to communicate with the team.
ForkLog is conducting an investigation into the incident.
