Rubic decentralised exchange hacked for $1.2 million

The Rubic cross-chain swap aggregator lost more than $1.2 million after a hacker gained access to the administrator’s wallet seed phrase.

According to the developers, the compromised wallet controlled the RBC/BRBC bridge and staking rewards.

“We suspect it was malicious software that was used to gain access to private keys,” they noted.

The attacker sold around 34 million RBC and BRBC tokens worth more than $1.2 million on decentralized platforms Uniswap and PancakeSwap. The hacker’s wallet still holds 205 BNB (over $65,000) and 138 ETH (over $214,000).

The Rubic developers noted that the exchange remains operational and all user funds are safe.

Hours after the attack, the RBC price fell by more than 98%. At the time of writing, the token was trading around $0.03, according to CoinGecko.

Earlier, ForkLog reported that the derivatives exchange Deribit was a hack for $28 million.
