Russia-linked hackers carried out a DDoS attack on ChatGPT
The OpenAI development company linked the recent outages in ChatGPT and its ChatGPT outages and its API with a DDoS-attack. According to Bloomberg, the incident was attributed to the Russia-backed hacker group Anonymous Sudan.
The issue arose on November 8 at 06:52 Moscow Time.
“We are dealing with periodic outages caused by anomalous traffic reflecting a DDoS attack,” OpenAI said at the time.
After the initial fix, outages recurred twice more.
“[Within a day] we saw errors affecting all services. We implemented a fix and now we see normal responses from our services,” the company said.
Bloomberg reported that the Anonymous Sudan hackers claimed responsibility for the attack in their Telegram channel, describing it as retaliation for OpenAI’s support for Israel.
In January 2022, the Solana network became unavailable for 48 hours due to spam bots.
In June, the multiple DDoS attacks hit the STEPN app built on Solana and BNB Chain.
