Russia to Draft Law on Confiscation of Illegal Cryptocurrencies
Russia plans law for confiscating illegal cryptocurrencies.
The Russian authorities are preparing legislative changes to introduce liability for the illegal organization of digital currency circulation. This was stated by Prosecutor General Alexander Gutsan during a meeting of the KSGP, reports TASS.
The initiative will also establish procedures for their confiscation and transfer to state revenue.
Gutsan added that with the involvement of the prosecutor’s office, a legal framework has already been created in the country to monitor cryptocurrencies and mining. Existing mechanisms allow for the tracking of transactions to combat money laundering, as well as identifying operations related to corruption, terrorism, and drug trafficking.
From July 2024 to June 2025, the volume of the Russian crypto market reached $376 billion.
