Russian Premier League launches NFT collection

Russian Premier League (RPL) in partnership with fantasy-football platform Sorare released a collection of non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

The collection includes digital cards of players from all 16 RPL clubs. Previously on the platform were available cards of Spartak Moscow, Dynamo Moscow, CSKA Moscow, Zenit, FC Krasnodar and Lokomotiv Moscow.

According to Sorare, users in Russia rank second in terms of time spent on the platform, and the total trading volume of the platform’s cards in Russia since January 2021 stands at $7 million. The project counts about 40,000 Russian users.

In September, Sorare raised $680 million at a valuation of $4.3 billion. Among Sorare’s 175 club partners are the French “Paris Saint-Germain” and the Italian Juventus.

In October, the UK Gambling Commission began a probe into Sorare. The regulator says the company does not have a license to operate in the region.
