Russian Tax Authority and Sber Seek Cryptocurrency Experts

The Russian Federal Tax Service and Sber are in search of specialists knowledgeable in the cryptocurrency market. Both job openings were posted on the hh.ru website in December 2023, but media attention has only recently been drawn to them.

The fiscal service has opened a position for an advisor in the international cooperation department, focusing on issues related to the taxation of cryptocurrencies and digital financial assets.

No specific niche skills are listed for the applicant. 

Sber, on the other hand, requires an executive director for the development of cryptocurrency solutions. This individual will lead a team developing international settlements based on digital assets.

The applicant is required to have at least five years of experience in a bank or fintech company in the field of transactional business and cryptocurrency solutions, as well as a successfully implemented case of launching such a product—from concept to reaching end users.

In February 2022, Sber announced its banking infrastructure was ready for the cryptocurrency market.

In April 2023, more than 60% of BitOK service users from Russia reported tax authorities’ interest in their bitcoin operations.
