The Federation Council is forming a working group to develop further regulation of cryptocurrencies. This was announced at the Finopolis forum by Deputy Speaker Nikolai Zhuravlev.
The group will include representatives of the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Economic Development, Rosfinmonitoring, the Ministry of Digital Development, the Tax Service, law enforcement agencies, the parliament, the central bank, as well as the cryptocurrency industry.
“We have already banned their use as a means of payment; as for the advisability of banning other operations with cryptocurrencies — that is not an easy, debatable issue,” said Zhuravlev.
Earlier in the Federation Council stated that they are analysing digital currencies on the financial market and intend in the future to take this issue seriously.
In November, the State Duma also decided to create an inter-committee working group to discuss regulation of mining.
