The move comes as part of a collaboration between the Worldcoin Foundation and Tools for Humanity with the governing organisation Optimism Collective.
According to the statement, the new network will host the gasless World App wallet and the decentralized World ID identification protocol.
“With more than 1.6 million registrations in beta and over 500,000 active World App users per month, deployment on the Optimism mainnet will broaden access and help Worldcoin build a value-driven ecosystem for developers and users,” said representatives of the startup.
Worldcoin began cooperating with Optimism almost a year ago in the development of the Ethereum Improvement Proposal—EIP-4844.
The Optimism team, for its part, is pursuing the goal of implementing a “superchain” that envisions the creation of a second-layer networks ecosystem for secure interaction with other blockchains.
Earlier in March, the startup introduced World ID protocol and a development kit for decentralized biometric identification.
In May the company released its own crypto wallet World App, which offers fee-free transfers for verified users. The app supports the stablecoins USDC and DAI, as well as Ethereum (ETH), Worldcoin (WDC) and «wrapped» Bitcoin (WBTC).
