Samoyedcoin Surges 54% Amid Airdrop for Saga Smartphone Owners

The price of Samoyedcoin (SAMO), a meme coin launched on Solana, surged by 54% over the past day, rising from $0.011 to $0.017, with its market capitalization increasing by $25 million, according to CoinGecko.

At the time of writing, the asset’s price had adjusted to $0.015. The coin reached its peak value of $0.237 in 2021.

The increase followed an airdrop for holders of the Web3 smartphone Saga. The project announced the distribution in December 2023 for approximately 20,000 device owners.

On January 9, 2024, developers began distributing the promised tokens. Saga users can claim 1250 SAMO (approximately $20 at the current rate).

Simultaneously, the meme token team introduced Saga Tools, enabling other Solana developers to organize airdrops and configure additional features exclusively for Web3 smartphone owners.

Previously, the buzz around the Bonk (BONK) token distribution led to a shortage of Saga devices. At the asset’s peak, users received about $900 in meme cryptocurrency for a device priced at $599. Speculators began reselling phones on marketplaces for $5000.
