Samsung to Integrate AI Services from OpenAI and Perplexity into Galaxy S26

Samsung is in discussions with AI companies such as OpenAI and Perplexity to integrate more artificial intelligence-based services into its upcoming Galaxy smartphones, according to Bloomberg.

The company aims to expand its range of applications beyond Google’s Gemini in the forthcoming S26 lineup, set to debut next year, stated Choi Won-Joon, President and Chief Operating Officer of the mobile division.

“We are in talks with several providers. As long as these AI agents are competitive and can deliver a better user experience, we are open to any tool,” he said.

The South Korean giant is close to finalizing an investment deal with AI search engine Perplexity, followed by the integration of its application and assistant.

Beyond artificial intelligence, the conglomerate is evaluating new chips for the Galaxy S26, considering both Qualcomm products and its own Exynos 2600.

In the recently released Galaxy Z Flip 7, Samsung used its own chipset in a foldable device for the first time. The company seeks to reduce its reliance on Qualcomm and dispel doubts about the performance and thermal characteristics of its Exynos line.

Meanwhile, Apple plans to unveil its own foldable smartphone next year, Bloomberg reports. It will use many components from the Galaxy Z Fold, including foldable OLED screens.

“This is just the beginning of how these phones will become mainstream,” Choi noted.

Back in January, Samsung announced a new series of flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S25, featuring a more powerful chip and a focus on artificial intelligence.
