Crypto Downturn
Despite statistics, September ended on a positive note with Bitcoin rising by 7%. However, October began with a decline in the leading cryptocurrency and the market as a whole. BTC fell from $66,000 to $60,000, with altcoins experiencing a sharper drop.
The decline was partially attributed to the situation in the Middle East, although there is virtually no real connection.
The Fear and Greed Index is in the fear zone at 41.
According to statistics, October usually begins after the 19th, so we wait.
“Tapaloks” tokens fell more sharply, with a decline of 30-50% over the past month.
Among the strong assets this week:
- FTT — +62%;
- APT — +11%;
- POPCAT — +6%.
St. Petersburg Raids, Central Bank Monitoring
Officers from the Economic Crime Department of the St. Petersburg police conducted raids at 80 addresses linked to a network of illegal cryptocurrency exchanges.
A criminal case has been opened against the creators of the anonymous payment system UAPS, the cryptocurrency exchange Cryptex, and 33 online exchanges. This was reported by the press service of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.
According to the agency, since 2013, accomplices have been engaged in illegal activities involving currency exchange, cryptocurrency, cash delivery and receipt, and the sale of bank cards and personal accounts. Their main clients were various cybercriminals.
At the end of September, U.S. authorities added the Cryptex exchange, the PM2BTC exchanger, and their alleged administrator, Russian Sergey Ivanov, to the sanctions list.
The Bank of Russia has required 19 credit and financial institutions to check cross-border transfers of resident individuals related to cryptocurrency purchases.
The regulator intends to assess the volumes of digital currency purchases and sales, particularly stablecoins, conducted by Russians abroad.
CZ “Earned” $25 Million a Day in Prison
The fortune of Binance co-founder and former CEO Changpeng Zhao increased by approximately $3 billion during his prison term, according to Forbes estimates.
This implies that the entrepreneur “earned” about $25 million for each of the 117 days of incarceration.
HBO to Reveal Satoshi’s Identity
On October 9, HBO will release a new documentary aiming to unveil the identity of Bitcoin’s creator, known under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto.
Alex Thorn, head of research at Galaxy Digital, wrote that the film’s authors claim the real identity of Satoshi is Len Sassaman. This theory was presented in 2021 by Evan Luehn Hatch, founder of the gaming project Worlds and a Bitcoin advocate, he recalled.
On the decentralized prediction platform Polymarket, a page titled “Who will HBO identify as Satoshi Nakamoto?” has appeared. Nearly half of the users are betting on Sassaman. Some even believe that the creator of Bitcoin is Craig Wright. Elon Musk is also among the named individuals.
