SBU identifies suspects in hacks of officials' accounts; payments were received in cryptocurrency

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has disrupted the activities of hackers suspected of breaching messaging apps, social-media accounts and email inboxes. 

According to the SBU, said the SBU, the perpetrators gained access to the messaging apps and social-media accounts of several Kyiv Oblast officials.

For their services, the hackers accepted payment in cryptocurrency or to electronic wallets of systems banned in Ukraine.

During searches, law enforcement seized computers and bank cards and obtained access to the software used to breach accounts.

Earlier, the SBU disclosed a group of hackers suspected of stealing funds from bank accounts. They transferred money into cryptocurrencies or to other accounts.
