SEC Receives New Bitcoin ETF Registration Filing
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has received another registration filing for a bitcoin-based exchange-traded fund (ETF). It was submitted by Valkyrie Digital Assets, according to information on the agency’s site.
According to the Form S-1 filed on January 22, the Delaware-based unit of Valkyrie Investments intends to launch a fund that will hold physical bitcoins. Coinbase Custody will serve as custodian for the latter.
If approved, Valkyrie plans to list the ETF on NYSE Arca.
“Our team has previously launched several ETFs, publicly traded funds, as well as ETPs, including bitcoin-based funds,” said the CEO of Valkyrie Digital Assets Li Wald in an interview with CoinDesk.
What is a cryptocurrency ETF?
Earlier this week, the investment company VanEck filed an application to launch an ETF for investments in cryptocurrency companies.
