
Security Council: Russia’s National Security Strategy Will Tackle Illicit Use of Cryptocurrencies
The revised edition of the National Security Strategy envisages fighting the use of digital currencies for illegal purposes. Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Alexander Grebenkin said this, Interfax reports.
“In the new edition of the Strategy, for the first time the task has been set to warn against and suppress offenses and crimes involving information and communications technologies, including the use of digital currencies for illegal purposes,” he said.
Additionally, the Security Council intends to improve the effectiveness of detecting illicit trafficking of weapons, ammunition and explosives.
Earlier, officials said that cryptocurrencies are actively used by terrorists to finance their activities.
