Shopify adds support for direct NFT sales
The Shopify e-commerce platform has given a select group of merchants the ability to sell NFTs directly, without third-party intermediaries. This was disclosed by Harley Finkelstein, president of the Canadian company.

If you’ve spent 1 minute on the internet this year, you’ve seen a lot about NFTs. @Shopify we are making it easier for our merchants to sell NFTs directly through their stores, with one of the first being the @ChicagoBulls NFT store. https://t.co/Qv2wKO7RCS

The Chicago Bulls basketball team, one of the first to gain access to the new option, unveiled a limited collection of NFTs dedicated to the club’s NBA championship wins.

NFTs are issued on the Flow blockchain by Dapper Labs, which runs the NBA Top Shots marketplace. The tokens have gone on sale and will be available for purchase until July 31.

\”Shopify puts power back in the hands of merchants and gives consumers the ability to choose how and where they want to buy,\” said Finkelstein.

He noted that the new functionality is currently available to a limited set of the company’s clients. In the future the service could be expanded to a larger number of merchants.
\n\n
According to NonFungible, over the last 30 days the cumulative NFT sales volume topped $196 million. This is nearly four times higher than a month earlier, when the figure reached $50 million. The historical sales peak occurred in April and May 2021 — when monthly turnover surpassed $300 million.

Earlier, Galaxy Digital founder Mike Novogratz described NFTs as \”expensive for the future\” and said that every industry would use this technology to build and develop communities.
