The Ethereum-sidechain team Skale Network unveiled Levitation Protocol — a scaling solution based on zero-knowledge proofs ZK-Rollups.
The SKALEverse is entering a new frontier!
Introducing the Levitation Protocol, a fully-decentralized, Zero-Knowledge (#ZK) scaling solution, built on the world’s fastest and most expansive EVM blockchain network.

Skale represents an ecosystem of more than 20 sidechains for specific applications that run in parallel with Ethereum. The new L2 protocol is designed to enable developers of dapps to use ‘rollups’ for seamless interaction with the network of the second cryptocurrency.
To extend the Levitation Protocol’s capabilities, Skale also plans to launch an additional L1 blockchain SKALE G. The network will simplify and speed up the linking of second-layer ZK protocols with Ethereum.
According to the developers, the proposed system has three main advantages over existing ZK-Rollups (ZKR) solutions:
- decentralization — all ‘rollups’ are executed within the ecosystem without any software modification;
- compatibility and modularity — the system turns ZKR into modules that interact with each other seamlessly;
- overall security — several ZKR can operate on a single chain with a shared transaction ledger.
Skale Network is governed by DAO, but the community of core developers proposed adding the new protocol through its own forum. They plan to deploy a testnet of the solution in the coming months. The mainnet launch is expected in Q4 2023.
Back in 2018, the sidechain team raised around $10 million in funding.
