Slovenia weighs 10% income tax on cryptocurrency transactions
The Slovenian Tax Administration is considering a 10% levy on income from cryptocurrency transactions, according to STA.
Under current law, the agency calculates the profits from buying and selling digital assets by individuals on an individual basis.
If the initiative is approved, the 10% tax would be levied on purchases of goods or services using cryptocurrency, as well as on converting them into fiat.
“The tax will be charged not on profit, but on the amount that a Slovenian tax resident receives in their bank account when turning virtual currency into cash or when buying goods or services.”, the agency said.
Earlier, the Hungarian economy minister proposed to lower the rate on profits from cryptocurrency transactions—from 30.5% to 15%.
