A group of Smartlands companies has renamed itself to Definder amid an expansion of the asset types to be tokenised and the geographic footprint of the business. The updated version of the site is available at definder.global.

“The rebranding and the launch of the updated site are linked, among other things, to the company’s long-term plans — creating the project’s ecosystem and focusing on the DeFi segment,” said Martin Birch, chairman of Definder’s board.

Definder provides tools for tokenising and investing in real estate, agricultural assets, small and medium-sized businesses, works of art, gold and startups.

The group began operations in 2017 and carried out its first STO in 2019. With it, owners of a student dormitory in Nottingham attracted capital totaling £1 million.

“After the successful tokenisation of real estate in the UK, we have seen strong demand for such services and support from clients. Both the company and our ambitions have outgrown the real estate sector. We will add new investment products to reach the goal of tokenising assets worth $1 trillion,” commented Definder CEO Ilya Obraztsov. em>

Definder’s flagship product is a platform for real estate tokenisation on the Smartlands blockchain, part of the Smarltands Network. Participants in the network pay transaction fees and receive staking rewards in native SLT tokens. They are also used to launch KYC- and compliance-oracles.

According to Ilya Obraztsov, in 2021 Definder expanded the functionality of Smartlands. Developers created a crypto wallet for trading and storage of SLT, conducted several real estate tokenisation deals and paid the first rewards to qualified token holders. The company’s plans include launching a platform for retail investors.

Definder launched Smarltands on 14 May 2021.
