Forge, the technology arm of the French banking giant Societe Generale, is using up to five different blockchains in experiments with the national digital currency (CBDC) and capital markets. CoinDesk quoted the company’s CEO, Jean-Marc Stenger.

He did not specify which networks are involved. Earlier it was reported that a Societe Generale subsidiary is experimenting with the Tezos blockchain to study CBDC use in interbank settlements.

Forge’s CTO Stefan Duzan noted that the choice of Tezos was driven by the fact that it enabled the company to develop features that would be difficult to implement on older protocols.

He added that the ability to work with multiple blockchains will improve interaction and liquidity for clients.

Earlier reports noted that Societe Generale participated in the Bank of France’s first successful CBDC test. The financial conglomerate is a participant in DLT projects Vakt, IIN and we.trade.
