Solana announces Riptide hackathon with a $5 million prize pool

Solana announced the international Riptide hackathon, running from February 2 to March 17, with a prize pool of $5 million and seed funding.

Participants will be invited to build projects in the payments, gaming, DeFi, Web 3.0 and DAOs. The organizers promise support in the form of resources, workshops and seminars.

The winners of Riptide will receive:

• grand champion — 65,000 USDC, three passes to the upcoming conference, and the opportunity to present their projects to the Solana community;
• best integration with Serum, Marinade, Friktion — 30,000 USDC;
• Solana Community Choice — 10,000 USDC and an exclusive NFT;
• five prizes in each category — from 10,000 USDC to 50,000 USDC.

In the previous Solana IGNITION hackathon, more than 6,000 participants launched 568 projects.

In May 2021, the Solana Foundation held Solana Season — one of the largest hackathons in IT history.
