Solana announces virtual hackathon with prizes up to $1 million

The Solana Foundation, a non-profit organization, announced the launch of the virtual hackathon Solana Season with tracks focused on Web3, DeFi and NFT. ForkLog was informed by the Solana Foundation’s press office.

Solana Season starts on May 15 and will run for three weeks. The hackathon offers a global prize pool of $400,000. Teams will also have access to seed funding, which will increase the total to $1 million.

Each track provides three prize places with awards of $20,000, $10,000 and $5,000 in USDC-SPL respectively.

Regional tracks include additional prize pools:

  • Eastern Europe (and CIS countries) — $155,000;
  • China — $125,000;
  • India — $50,000;
  • Brazil — $25,000.

Individual projects will be able to compete for additional prizes with the support of hackathon partners, as well as for the Grand Champion prize — $50,000 in USDC-SPL.

“We want to participate in developing projects spanning different countries, because we believe they will be invaluable in unlocking the potential of blockchain,” said Anatoly Yakovenko, president of the Solana Foundation.

According to him, the foundation’s goal is to provide the additional support needed by projects to sustain and develop the Solana community.

The hackathon will be supported by ForkLog, Hacken Foundation, Gate.io, Serum, HAPI, Velas, Akash Network, MultiCoin Capital, Bitfury Crystal, FTX, OKEX, Raydium, AAVE, DSRV, Nonce, 1inch Network, 3Commas, Waves, Zerion, Solstarter, MXC and others.
