The nonprofit behind the Solana project, the Solana Foundation launched a real-time carbon-footprint tracking feature on the blockchain.
The tracker was developed in collaboration with the TryCarbonara platform. The indicators are influenced by a range of factors, including the throughput of individual validators and changes in the network.
“With the publication of this data, the Solana Foundation aims to set a new standard for measuring emissions in the blockchain. We welcome the opportunity to work with other ecosystem participants both inside and outside the Solana community who are interested in better tracking emissions,” the press release said.
The project team noted that the free tracker provides detailed data. Developers plan to add new features to it in the future.
In April, the wireless network Helium completed the transition to the Solana blockchain, under which it will create nearly 1 million NFT.
On May 8, sales of Solana Labs’ Web3-focused smartphone Saga will begin. Pre-ordered devices are already being prepared for shipment.
