Solana Mobile Begins Shipping Seeker Crypto Smartphone

On August 4, Solana Mobile commenced shipments of its Seeker crypto smartphone. The initial batches have already been dispatched to buyers in 57 countries, the company announced.

Pre-orders for the successor to the Saga have exceeded 150,000. This will generate at least $67.5 million in revenue for the project, with the device priced between $450 and $500.

The Seeker operates on Android and integrates several blockchain features:

• Seed Vault — a secure hardware storage for private keys;
• an integrated dApp Store with over 100 applications (DeFi aggregators, payment services, games);
• Genesis Token — a unique NFT providing access to exclusive projects and rewards in new SKR tokens.

The crypto smartphone is based on the TEEPIN architecture. It ensures decentralized access to the device and distribution of applications, using cryptographic attestation to verify software authenticity and enhance security.

Solana Mobile also plans to add AI support and DePin services to the Seeker.

The developers position the new model as a more affordable alternative to the Saga, which debuted at $1,000 in 2023. Due to low sales — 20,000 units — the company had to reduce the crypto smartphone’s price to $599. Thanks to airdrops of two meme coins for device owners, the entire stock for the US and Europe quickly sold out.

Following the launch, analysts at CertiK identified a critical vulnerability in the Saga that allows for the theft of users’ cryptocurrencies. However, developers denied the existence of a security threat.

The Seeker launched with a lower price and improved design: a brighter 6.36-inch AMOLED display, a 108+32 MP camera, and extended battery life optimized for Web3 applications.

In March, Deutsche Telekom announced an AI smartphone based on the Perplexity chatbot.
