Solana Mobile Sets Launch Date for Seeker Crypto Smartphone and Unveils SKR Token

Solana Mobile has disclosed plans to launch its own SKR token and introduced the decentralized architecture TEEPIN. The company has also scheduled the release of its second crypto smartphone, Seeker, for August 4.

TEEPIN implements a three-tier infrastructure, enabling developers, users, and manufacturers to securely interact with Solana via mobile devices. 

Solana Labs co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko stated that the architecture will not have a central authority—control and access will be ensured through cryptography.

The SKR token will serve as an internal tool for economic incentives and governance within the Solana Mobile ecosystem. Coins will be allocated to developers and users to encourage platform development and make the mobile business model more open.

The company confirmed that pre-orders for Seeker have exceeded 150,000 units across 57 countries. The price for early buyers is set at $500. 

The new smartphone includes Seed Vault and Seed Vault Wallet, the Genesis token, an updated Solana dApp Store, and other features for Web3 interaction.

Back in September 2024, the Solana Mobile team introduced a new version of Seeker (formerly Chapter 2), developed in collaboration with the Solflare wallet.

In November, CertiK analysts identified a critical vulnerability in the Web3 phone that allows for the theft of user cryptocurrencies.
